When Green Energy Threatens What it is Meant to Save
The proposed Kentbruck Windfarm in south-west Victoria, threatens, the critically endangered Southern bent-wing Bat, the Australian Bittern and Brolgas. It would be situated on the karst area of the Glenelg River, near a Ramsar wetland and national parks. It is currently being assessed by the Victorian Government, which has held six weeks of public hearings over the course of 2025. The proposal faces strong environmental opposition.

Telstra has illegally widened a section of the Koonalda to Hughes track in the Wilderness Protection Area of the Nullarbo Plain. The damage risks the spread of the declared weed Buffel Grass. It will increase the silting of the underlying voids of the caves due to soil runoff during rain events.
