Renewable Energy, The Nullarbor and Deep Decarbonisation

Tue Jun 17th 8:00pm - 9:30pm ACST

How do key environmental principles, such as the precautionary principle and the principles of intra-and inter-generational equity, operate where there is clearly a likelihood of irreversible harm to particular, important, landscapes and ecosystems? 19th International Congress of Speleology

Sun Jul 20th - Sun 27th

Minascentro Convention Center, Av. Augusto de Lima, 785 - Centro, Belo Horizonte - MG, 30190-001, Brazil

The UIS hosts an International Congress of Speleology every four years, which is the world’s most significant gathering of cave and karst scientists, managers, educators, and explorers.

The Brazilian Speleological Society (SBE) and the National Center for Research and Conservation of Caves (ICMBio/CECAV) are proud to host the 19th International Congress of Speleology (ICS) in 2025, which will include the 38th Brazilian Congress of Speleology (CBE) into a single combined event and will also host the major celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the UIS.

Seventy-two years after the first ICS (Paris, 1953), for the second time we will have an ICS in Brazil. While the 13th ICS (Brasília, 2001) had “Speleology of the Third Millennium: Sustainable Development of Karst Environments” as its theme, the host city of the 19th ICS in 2025 will be Belo Horizonte (BH), capital of the state of Minas Gerais, and the theme will be “60 Years of the UIS: History to the Future.”

The Minascentro Convention Center will be the venue, but you will be the honored guest!

So, welcome!

National Cave & Karst Management Symposium

Mon Oct 6th - Fri 10th

Bristlecone Convention Center, 150 W 6th St, Ely, NV 89301, USA

The National Cave & Karst Management Symposium is held every 2 years. The next symposium is set for October 6-10, 2025 in Ely, Nevada – the heart of the Great Basin

Hidden Waters. Hidden Life.

Cave and karst resource management spans a wide array of scientific and recreational disciplines. In the arid west, management of these fragile ecosystems seems forever locked in the delicate interplay between surface geology and the precious but dwindling resource of groundwater.

Since 1975, the National Cave & Karst Management Symposium has been the preeminent forum for promoting, advancing and sharing concepts in effective management of cave and karst resources.

The Great Basin of the American West is centered mostly in Nevada. It is the largest endorheic watershed in North America. Water that enters this basin never flows to an ocean. This rare hydrology has created a unique environment for cave formation in an arid climate. The Symposium incldes field (cave) trips.
